Justin Chung has served as the President of the Associated Graduate Students from 2012-2014. The Associated Graduate Students is the recognized graduate student government at UC Irvine. During his time at UCI, he created the AGS Symposium, an event that highlighted the tremendous cutting-edge research performed by over 80 of UCI’s brightest grad students. He also spearheaded the creation of the Higher Education Report Card, a legislative scorecard which is created and distributed to California legislators annually by students across the UC system. The Report Card scores legislators on their voting record as it relates the funding and support of higher education.
Chung’s research has focused on large-scale analysis of social media data, using a confluence of advanced computational and linguistic analysis tools to learn more about the role of social media in politics and about how people of various political persuasions use language. Justin will have a PhD in Informatics from the University of California, Irvine. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, where he studied Management Science & Engineering.
